Mellotron on the new Radiohead Album

Mellotron on the new Radiohead Album

2011-02-19 by Jake Kobrin

Radiohead released their 8th album yesterday, a dense mass of glitchy samples and textures, with Thom's signature falsetto gliding upon them. It featured some mellotron strings (and possibly brass?) on the first track, Bloom. The track also happens to my favorite on the album! It's the only one with any 'Tron, but the album is great in general.

If this is representative of the whole CD, then all I can say is "Pure crap."

Got to say, Radiohead comes as close to what I thought was the soul of
progressive music as it gets in 2011.

I think Radiohead continues to push music in new and interesting
directions. The fact that they have a unique musical vision and don't just craft pop
songs makes them exciting to me.
