I think sloppy suits
music composed after Bach but not
before. Apart from Gould and
Tureck some of my favourite Bach
is direct midi output, more often
than not the performer and their
interpretation just get in the
way, music written after Bach is
so bereft of ideas that you need a
"performance" from the player just
to cover up the vacuum at the
heart of the music.
