You can get an M400 to sound like an M300 'cos it's the same heads and a transistor preamp/lineamp arrangement. Woolly was NOT going to use M300B violins. I think that maybe the tube pre amps make a difference to the sound. I wonder what Woolly was planning to do with the M300b strings, it's not a sound I'm familiar with, I assume he was going to mix it with the Mark II violins, how were the tracks organised? > > Mark > > --- In newmellotrongroup@yahoogroups.com, tronbros <tronbros@...> wrote: > > > > Woolly never used the M300B violins. We were looking at adding a spring line reverb to the M400 before his sad demise as he wanted to get the sound he loved, a smattering of dry and a whole lot of spring! > > > > M > > > > > > > > mellotronics.co.uk > > > > > > > > On 23 Jun 2012, at 01:57, "markpringnz" <markpringnz@...> wrote: > > > > > Wish I could get to hear it. Did Woolly ask for the M300b strings? I think in recent years he used the 3 violins in the studio and the m300 violins live. The mellotron sound that I am obsessed with is the M300 violin sound played live on an M300, the BJH live album from 74 gives a good example of this, I didn't particularly like the BJH studio tron sound. > > > > > > Of interest to me anyway is that the M300 broke down whilst they were recording the live album and some of the tron parts were over dubbed in the studio later, I can't tell which, so they could get that sound in the studio. > > > > > > Does anyone know or care which tracks were overdubbed? > > > > > > Ah, thats better, I think I'll have a lie down now. > > > > > > --- In newmellotrongroup@yahoogroups.com, "ClayE" <ecclesreinson@> wrote: > > > > > > > > Spectrum Road (Vernon Reid, Jack Bruce, Cindy Blackman-Santana and John Medeski) will be using my Mellotron MK-VI at The Sound Academy in Toronto next Wednesday. Streetly tape frame will be 3V's, IM Flute and M300 B Strings. It's the tape frame that was laced-up for Woolly Wolstenholme but never used. > > > > > > > > Can't wait to hear it through a megawatt sound system. > > > > > > > > Clay > > > > > > > > > > > > --- In newmellotrongroup@yahoogroups.com, mlcsixand78s <no_reply@> wrote: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > http://youtu.be/fY1PweehYRw > > > > > > > > > > -Allan > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
