I recommend The Ascent of Man by Jacob Bronowsk. Its Cosmos that instead of the universe, looks are the evolution of man in terms of art and science. I had a college class based on the series in 1973 which dovetailed with prog rock and my search for meaning in life. First episode on U Tube found here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHJrSZWFQFo And besides "42" I'm still looking. The "Cosmos" series is worth owning. Liked it as it ran, bought it for "on my demand" viewing. Pity Dr. Sagan died so young.
