Well I don't agree that this is a good thing. An integrated regulator would have to be linear
which blows the option of saving power using a switching regulator.

Fot those interested in power supplies look at the maxim MAX1775. It is a dual swithcing regulator with 
both 3.3 and 1.8 outputs. Very small and neat.

Well they could use ST's route, on on-board linear that can be replaced by 
an external supply.

I am using MAX8883 LDO in my LPC2106 design. It is a sot23 regulator
and delivers both voltages @ 100ma and that looks enough for small
designs.
