You are correct in that Keil does not use GCC as a back end or front 
end or anything else.  The KEIL IDE lets you choose which compiler
you will use:  KEIL CARM, GCC CYGNUS, or ARM ADS/RealView.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
