If you're producing product in any sort of volume this is a poor strategy, in my opinion. Apart from not guaranteeing the part, Philips are under no obligation to keep the boot loader the same: they can change it at any time (as long as the published interface and production functionality remain the same). If part of your production process is to patch the device before you use it, what happens when the patch location changes? Doesn't bear thinking about.... Brendan
