The Roland V-Drums are awesome. Really. I've heard people
playing convincing trio jazz type stuff on them. But they
are $$$pricey$$$.

I just got rid of my DrumKat and KicKat because I was
always able to get better (although not quicker) results
by programing drums with the mouse. I guess it depends
on how good a drummer you are and what kind of music
you do.
