The mindprint was very nice but you indicated later that you were 
looking for a colored compression and that is *not* the feeling I got 
from the mind print's comp.  It worked beautifully but it was very 
*uncolored* in my subjective opinion.

I have an acquaintance who is a producer with a pretty amazing list 
of credits and who can definitely afford just about any preamp who 
raves about the Joe Meek VC1 series.  They are only slightly more 
expensive than the VC6Qs.  If I were you I would probably be checking 
those out.  On the other hand I do not have first hand experience 
with the VC1 series and I am not that blown away by my VC3.  Like I 
said though my friends VC2 sounded very nice to my ears.  Nicer in 
fact than his Avalon 737 and his Focusright Producers Pack.
