Hi David,
You can check out existing systems that work well and stable at http://www.digitalnaturalsound.com/logic_dsp/perform.shtml
I'm also going to upgrade this autumn and I'm thinking about that upcoming Athlon processor, called "Palomino". Should be great for Logic from what I have understood, since it will benefit from Logic being optimised for SSE code. Oh well, we'll see when it's out. Regarding mobo I was reading at ProRec http://www.prorec.com/prorec/articles.nsf/articles/D6A94D6B2F7DA99186256A7F00747CC9 where Pete Leoni does strongly recommend the The Iwill KK266 Motherboard. Read that one if you haven't already done so.
Anoyone on the LUG with an Iwill KK266 ? Can I Get A Witness?
Regards
¨per

Hey,
I'm thinking that a lot of the troubles that I have with Logic, are
mobo related, and because of a lot of junk on my system. So I'm gonna
build another computer just for Logic, and a couple more audio
programs, but nothing else. I'll network it from another internet
connected computer that I'll do all my other stuff on.
I was thinking the rme reference PC, with an Asus cusl2 mobo, with
as fast a processor it will work with. So maybe a PIII Coppermine 1ghz
or even faster if I can. I'll put in 512mb of PC133. IDE 7200rpm
drives, maybe raid0 later on. I run 98se. Win2000 when Logic will
support it.
That ref PC on the rme site has been there for a while. Since things
can change drastically with computers, does anyone know whether that
ref PC should be updated with a new and improved mobo and processor,
or is that a good safe system that will consistently run Logic trouble
free. I'll use Hammerfall9652, Matrox G400, Unitor8mkIII, and Adaptec
2940U2W Scsi card for HP9210i CDRW, and a good 300 watt PS.
I'm ready to order, and I just thought I'd try to get some comments
on the latest talk about Logic and reliable CPU's that are trouble
free.
Thanks so much,
David Floyd
