today I midi sync'ed the poly's sequencer to my 707. This made me very happy. Anyone have any interesting or novel uses for their poly 800?

In terms of it's sound, not really...I much prefer the EX-8000's sound, it's like the poly 800 on steroids...BUT the poly lets me do one thing the ex does not, and that's strapping it on and wearing it like a gu-synth, then making cheesy poses like I'm a rock star or something. Of course, I would prefer a moog liberation for this, but considering it poses absolutely no practical use, I can deal without it for now :). In all honesty, my poly 800 has been sitting in the closest ever since about 2 days after I did the battery and moog slayer mods to it, which was about a week after I bought it. If it at least had velocity sensitivity, or even just SENT velocity signals, I would still be using it :(...I guess it might have been worth the 100$ I payed for it...might....will have to wait and see. While I do miss having the velocity stuff, I always seem to come back to the Poly 800 for sounds that I just can't get anywhere else. And I've synced it to all my other keyboards and my drum machines. But, one of the cooler things I did, a while ago, was trigger it with my DrumKat (MIDI drum pads with kick pedal type thing). What was cool is that I was triggering both my drum machine AND the poly 800 with it, so that each drum sound had a note from the Poly layered on top of it. Sounded pretty cool!! I've also synced the Poly's clock to my Korg D8 recorder. Also cool because you can program a sequence, record it, then program a different sequence, and record it IN SYNC with the first one. Probably no big deal to most MIDI buffs, but I had fun anyway. --- In korgpolyex@yahoogroups.com, "Byron Deerr IV" <bdeerr@w...> wrote: > In terms of it's sound, not really...I much prefer the EX-8000's sound, > it's like the poly 800 on steroids...BUT the poly lets me do one thing > the ex does not, and that's strapping it on and wearing it like a > gu-synth, then making cheesy poses like I'm a rock star or something. I´ve sync'ed my poly to an Korg ES-1, full of old drum samples, then sampled sequences from the poly, it could do that kind of fast arpeggios like trance and stuff, and layering them... And the bass got pretty more fat thru ES-1 filters (and can record the movement of the filter knobs)... I´ve even done a cover from Fischerspooner´s "Emerge" very easy...hehehe, funny... The sad thing is that the poly responds only to one midi channel... Is it normal? --- In korgpolyex@yahoogroups.com, "wunderhorn1" <wunderhorn1@y...> wrote:

Wow, hehehe Do you have any link to your song? I promisse i won´t rip you, hehe How did it happen? I´m from Brazil, Fischerspooner will play here in a festival next week... --- In korgpolyex@yahoogroups.com, Philippe Laurent <p.laurent@n...> wrote: > Júlio César wrote: > > >I´ve sync'ed my poly to an Korg ES-1, full of old drum samples, then > >sampled sequences from the poly, it could do that kind of fast > >arpeggios like trance and stuff, and layering them... As their service is currently down, I have no link at the moment, but I'll work a temporary solution to that if you like. As for your question 2 post earlier, if I remember right, the Poly 800 is in in omni : on mode at power up, but switches to single channel as soon as you access the channel choice menu. Philippe

You can put your song in the files section of the group... About the poly, i mean that the poly800II can´t "layer" voices, like to play a sequence with one voice, while making chords with another voice...I don´t know the exact term, and my english is poor... --- In korgpolyex@yahoogroups.com, Philippe Laurent <p.laurent@n...> wrote: > Júlio César wrote: > > >Wow, hehehe > > > >Do you have any link to your song?
