My first synthy...!!!

My first synthy...!!!

2004-02-11 by nick_prionas

Hi there!Great site with lots of info!
I'm a little newbie with electronic music world but i just bought my
first synth and guess which is?
A Korg Poly 800 MkI!Well,i suppose so(it doesn't has a delay...).

The thing is that my synth is in bad condition and i'll have to
dedicate a few hours of work on it...
Firstly i'm gonna clean it and maybe solder a few new switches.
I'm impressed with the MoogSlayer mod and i'll certainly try it in
the near future,too.
Do you have any other mods to try?

Another thing that i want to ask is how i can improve the look of my
synth(it is a little damaged and ugly looking). In the files section
i found a lot of cool images and i really love this poly800 in dark
blue look.Is it an easy thing to paint the Poly?I can't find any
info about "look" enhancement on the messages area...

Sorry for my bad english...:)

Congratulations on the buy, hope you enjoy it. If you do in fact moogslay your poly, I would highly suggest putting an internal battery in as well. The Moogslayer is pretty nice, mostly just for having the filter cut right there, but putting a battery in it was oh so much more helpful. After writing a new patch for patch number 11 about 6 times, I was ready to throw it out the window. I hastily made my way to radio shack and soldered a battery into it immediately, all is well now.

There is spray paint made now especially for
plastic;it's with home decorators in mind who want to
custtomize vinyl or resin furniture. I think Krylon
makes it. If you really must. But if none of those
colors work, brush on model primer, thinned a bit,
with a wide, thin brush; then you can put any kind of
finish you want on and don't worry about the plastic.
If you were lacquering you'd have to do this.
