All DIP ic's pins are numbered the same way.

You'll notice that that every chip should have an indentation, or half-circle cut out, or some form of dot at one end. That's a marker for pin orientation. With that on the side of the chip farthest from you, pin 1 is the farthest on the left side, 2 the closest left side to that, and so on until the end of the chip. Pins are then numbered in the opposite direction on the right side, starting with the number after the last pin on the left side.

For example - an 8 pin dip package, like this:

1 -[ * ]- 8
2 -[ ]- 7
3 -[ ]- 6
4 -[___]- 5

Does that help any?

I guess that helps...i didn't realize it was that simple....I was
looking at the schematics for the p800 and they made it seem more
complicated because all the numbers on the dips that are shown seem
random. so the NJM2069 has 22 pins so is this correct then?
thanks for the help!

end with indent
         |
         V
       1[*]22
       2[ ]21
       3[ ]20
       4[ ]19
       5[ ]18
       6[ ]17
       7[ ]16
       8[ ]15
       9[ ]14
      10[ ]13
      11[ ]12
