My second Poly 800 3D part model

My second Poly 800 3D part model

2015-07-09 by Grit

After replicating the joystick knob for 3D print I now also have the strap pins in my shapeways page:

This one has a small P on the ends, I've already ordered a set and will try to fill the P with some paint to make it stand out, I will let you know the outcome if interested:

And this one is just a basic replication of the pin:

So, if you're missing a pair who knows - this might come in handy.

Hey Grit-

Huge question for you and everyone else in the forum.

My EX800 is missing all of the buttons on the front of the display, and they are evidently impossible to purchase online.

Do you have access to an EX800 and would be able to reproduce these front buttons with your 3-D printer?

If you don't happen to have access to the buttons, I know there are others in my boat that have demand for replacement buttons?  Maybe some loving EX800 owner would be willing to send you one original button and you could make a set of buttons so that they at least exist in the community for those who need them?

I would graciously pay you and support this in any way if there is a way we can make this happen.

Beautiful looking joystick, by the way.

Hey Charlie,

Yes, sure, I'd be happy to try and reproduce the buttons. I suppose they're all connected the same way so one design fits all? I don't have a EX-800 and alas - I don't see any for sale for me at a reasonable price. Of course if someone could send me a button I can measure it up and make a 3D model for it. I live in the Netherlands.

Are any loving EX800 owners willing to send one of the buttons from your EX800 to this great man so he could reproduce the part on his 3-D printer?

I know that these buttons are IMPOSSIBLE to find, ANYWHERE (trust me, I've been searching).  I know a great many others are probably in my same boat, and this would be a massive service to the community.

I would be willing to pay for all of the shipping/labor costs involved.

You are our only hope, kind internet strangers.

I don't have an EX800 at the moment - :-( so I can't help right at this moment. But I may be getting my hands on one soon so if no one else calls out then I will volunteer once I get the EX-800.

Meanwhile, how durable are the parts that come out of the 3d printing process? Are they going to stand up to constant finger pushes? And how does the 3d printing process get the characters onto the front face?

/Mike

Links to templates, patch editors and librarians

2015-08-27 by Michael Hawkins

Anyone that has worked on a HAWK template for any kind of software or a patch editor or librarian etc.

Please send me the links to your work. I want to collect them together onto a web page.

If you have any templates in your possession please send them along if you wish to share them.

Thanks,

/Mike

Mike; that would be amazing if you got your hands on an EX-800 and were able to 3-D print those buttons.  They have confined my EX to a pillowcase in the closet, and nobody puts baby in the corner.

No idea about the durability of 3-D printed buttons, but if you can print a functional 3-D firearm, I'd venture that a 3-D printed buttons would hold up under stress.

Well I had absolutely no problems with the durability of the standard plastic material but you could print in metal which should hold up very good. If possible I sand the 3d parts with 1000grit paper because the structure which the 3D printed objects have is a bit 'sandy' and I expect then to get dirty when used as buttons.

I posted on a forum overhere if anyone would have a EX800 around for inspection but no luck as of yet. I will keep an eye out though.

Cheers,
Grit

I will have to pull this back out of mothballing, but if you recall I had been working on this that can work either Stand Alone app or in Most DAW's as a VST.

KorgKontrolVST

that one shows Fruity Loops running a VST version of it.. has a gating effect by triggering the Volume ON/OFF and sweeps the filter open/close.

KorgWobble2

this one shows how you can draw complex filter modulations that can by SYNCHED TO BEAT! in a VST enviroment.  IE if you speed up the BPM, the modulations will speed up too.. and of course slowing down BPM will slow down the modulations.. you can hear that in this clip at about 1:00 where it slows down the first time...

KorgKontrolVST

I still need to get an AtomaHawk from you someday to tweak in the FM modulation and other parameters it provides...

The above still works very nicely and I did figure out how to get the realtime tweakable GUI ADBSSR envelopes to work.. just need some scripting help to INVERT them.  But it's nice to be able to actually SEE what the Breakpoint and Slope do graphically to the standard ADSR envelope.

It also needs some more tweaking in fetching a Patch data to set all the virtual knobs up for you each time you call a new patch up.  Right now the only way I could do it is by looping MIDI from the GUI..  Poly>GUI>Poly..  maybe some kind of special filtering of the MIDI data is needed.

So basically it is only about 3/4 done and it could be ported to Macs too..  and of course 32 and 64bit systems.

Mike I think you have a copy of one of my 1st versions of this already..
