Hawk-800 editor publicly posted

2015-05-12 by lists@...

Hey,

I mentioned an editor for Max/Max for Live back in the winter. I didn't really get through to testers for some reason after some initial interest. This is a massive editor and already has been through a few iterations on my own. I decided to post it up publicly to try to get the final bugs sorted out.

Presently only the Max for Live version is posted. I need to re-arrange some objects and fix a UI glitch for the standalone. It may be a few weeks before I get around to that. In the mean time, Max 7 allows embedding a Max for Live patch inside a native patch and you just wire up the MIDI In/Outs and voila, you have a standalone editor.

I will definitely link to this and will get to testing it soon.

If you get a chance. my name is Mike Hawkins (not Hawk) and the link to the HAWK website should be www.hawk800.com

Thanks for the hard work put into this.

/Mike

Hey Mike,

I updated the info to be accurate, thanks for the correction.

There is a bug I could use your help with, which is the combo boxes. It's been a while so I actually edited them so bear with me, but if I remember correctly, some discreet multivalue paramaters had linear assignment values (0, 1, 2, 3... etc) and some where spread through the range (0-33, 34-67 ... etc). It's those latter types that my scaling seems to be off for certain values. Using midi monitor i believe the values I'm sending or what I want them to be, but perhaps I'm not understanding what the CC values actually should be. I would appreciate any corrections to mistakes you notice.

Cheers,
Joe

The latest software version has the ability to turn that scaling on and off. Which might be helpful to you.

Does the code you've developed only work in Ableton? I don't have Ableton or any software other than MIDI-OX and LINUX scripts using amidi.

I am extremely busy these days running my own consulting business so I am not sure when I'll get to look at it.

So I am a bit of newb with modern music composition/editing software.

Currently it runs in Ableton only, but I can build a standalone app. It includes the whole runtime so it clocks in at around 60MB so I chose not to include it with the patch itself (only ~700kb)

I'll put together a standalone  ASAP and link it here.

Just wanted to bump to let you know I haven't forgotten about this. Many DIY projects being juggled, will have something soon. (Next rainy weekend)

We're all here. Alot of us in the same boat. Over worked and under paid. Where did all that free time go?
