Need help with an Atomahawk problem

Need help with an Atomahawk problem

2015-01-01 by basecamp_88@...

I'm having a problem with the Atomahawk install that I just can't nail.

Here's what I've identified:

  • Moog slayer seems to be stuck in an on state (P2 58 - 1)
  • Changing the value of P2 58 does not change the state of moog slayer
  • Moog slayer resonance can be changed with P2 51
  • With P2 68 set to 1 or 2, P2 61 will distort the notes
  • Unable to determine if other FM800 control works
  • Hard to tell for sure, but 12/24db filter appears to be working
  • There is a "noise" with every note press that follows the note sustain -- here is a demo of the noise: Atomahawk Problem
  • Removing the Atomahawk, keyboard functions properly

Here is how the Atomahwak is wired up:

Pin Poly800

2 R23(low)
3 R21(high)
4 R21(low)
5 IC5 - 7
6 IC4 - 7
7 C103(high)
8 IC1 - 5
9 IC1 - 6
10 IC4 - 4

Boot 1.99
Firmware 2.59a

Does anyone have any insight, this is driving me crazy!

Well the strange noise following the sounds is resolved. Still dealing with the programming issues of the atomahawk features:

  • Moog slayer seems to be stuck in an on state (P2 58 - 1)
  • Changing the value of P2 58 does not change the state of moog slayer
  • Moog slayer resonance can be changed with P2 51
  • With P2 68 set to 1 or 2, P2 61 will distort the notes
  • Unable to determine if other FM800 control works
  • Hard to tell for sure, but 12/24db filter appears to be working

Sounds to me like AtomaHawk is not working at all.

Check your wiring. And also check that you have the ribbon cable headers in the correct orientation connecting the HAWK to the Atomahawk.

Thanks for the input Mike. I tested it out today and everything seems to be working?!
I double-checked the wiring and the board mounting for possible short points with a fine-toothed comb, but come up with nothing.
The studio was recently rearranged so it's plugged into a different outlet. So the only theory I have at this point is dirty power or grounding issues.

If the Poly comes up and runs and most other parameters and functions work OK then it would be unlikely to be the power.

Are you saying that it worked but then stopped working after your studio rearrangment?
