Is R96 the tape output resistor?

While installing the fresh hawk kits (yay!) I noticed the board (although working) has some weak spots. One thing is the R96 near the program stepup connector - it's badly burnt.
Does someone have an idea what kind this is? I have found a Poly MK1 service manual JPG but it's pretty much unreadable for me...
