Ok, data entry is out. What about setting the knob box to control sys-ex
values rather then cc#'s?

I honestly don't know if there are any knob boxes that can send sysex commands
instead of cc's as I've never shopped for them. I do know it would be easy to
hack something up with a computer's joystick port, but that's something
completely different.

so you're saying the ex has a midi controller value for data entry that i could assign to any assignable controller knob? do you have that info handy?
and while i'm at it, does anyone know where i can get an ex manual?

thanks,

Nope, MK1 and Mk2 only respond to cc#s 1 and 2
(upstick and downstick). A knobbox would have very
little potential except you could modulate the pitch
and filter independently.
