Interesting Keybed Modification Idea.

Interesting Keybed Modification Idea.

2003-07-21 by skinpack2000

So I recenmtly picked up new Korg Poly-800s, one with the standard
keys and one with reveresed black and white keys. Among adding the
filter and battery mods, I was considering re-arranging the keys so
that each Poly-800 has two octaves of standard keys and two octaves
of reverese-color keys in a checkerboard pattern not unlike the
Yamaha DXJ-II.

I've taken a good look inside of my Poly-800s, past and present, but
I've never had the bravery to mess with the keybeds before. Does
anyone here know if it would be possible for me to simply pull out
the keys and rearrange them between the two synths without causing
any damage? Will I need to solder or glue the rearranged keybeds at
all?

Thanks and all the best!

Scott.

Good idea! Just make sure you line up the octopus strips okay. Those
are a bit of a pain to line up perfectly.

Yeah, I took a look inside and it's possible to do but the joystick's
circuit bed is firmly [and unfortunately] in place over one side of
the keybed making it only free to access on one end. This is going to
be a bit of a task I suppose!

Thanks everyone.
