Korg Ex800 Buttons replacement

Re: [korgpolyex] Korg Ex800 Buttons replacement

Oh man, I have this question too.  My EX-800 is missing all but one of the push buttons.

From what I understand, replacement buttons are essentially impossible to find.  I would LOVE to know where I could source replacement button for the EX-800.

Someone should sticky this!

If someone has the entire EX-800 service manual including the parts list, it should be easy to find. Too bad the service manual in the files section of this group only has pages 1-5. Page 10 is the parts list. For the Poly-800, which is an entirely different switch, you can see that it uses Panasonic EVQQJB04K , and I found a Panasonic “Discontinued” notice on the web that stated that part was replaced by EVQPAE04M, which is still available. Of course, I’m talking about the tact switch under the button cap, not the button cap itself. Are you guys talking about the tact switch or the cap? To find the right switch for the EX-800, you might need to just measure one and find a tact switch the same size.

Personally, I am just looking for the button caps.  I can reach into the guts of the exposed EX and tap the actual switches to change parameters, etc., but I have had ZERO luck locating the buttons that actually go over the switches.  The "buttons" that you would touch on the surface of a brand new EX-800 are what I am missing; the switches underneath are intact.

If anyone has a source on functional buttons that are compatible with the EX, please let me know

This is my predicament w/r/t the EX-800 buttons/switches. All my switches on the board are working and attached.

See:

I'm sure some of you guys have run into a lost/chipped/defective button (the actual tactile button you touch with your finger to activate the switch)

Have any of you guys found a replacement, even if imperfect, for the buttons I am missing?  Part number of something still in production that would fit?  Any other potential solutions for this problem.

Great group, and a great synth. Would love to get her in a more operationally friendly place.

Thanks all,

Charlie

Always puzzled me that there doesn't appear to be any drop-in replacement available for what seems like relatively basic switches...?
Or am I wrong?

I'm certain you cannot order those.  They were made only for the EX500.. about 30 years ago.

You will need to either find replacements from a parted out unit or try to find someone with a 3D Printer that can copy the originals.. then you'd have to label them yourself using a standard printer to get the numbers back on them.

good luck..
