I joined this group about 6 months back because I bought an EX800 off ebay for £200,I used to use a Poly800 MKII when I was about 15 which a friends parents bought him and he used to let me borrow it (his parents were richer than mine) must have been 1988/9, anyway enough of the history,I looked on auction sites and the MKII is going for silly money now here probably thanks to a certain magazine called Future Music recommending it as a good secondhand buy although they said it was thin,which is a joke.
Anyway so I bought the EX-800 module (I can recreate the ddl like the MKII) which is working great apart from the contact switches,they do work but you have to either hit them hard or fettle them softly so the question I'm asking is what is the best way to clean them or is it best I should just leave them as they are and put up with them? the rest of the machine is great, knobs fine,contacts on audio outs fine,pretty silent unless you turn the chorus on but then only slight increase in hiss.
Oh another question,the battery is good at moment but any guide to installing a new battery will be helpful because I intend on keeping this for a long time.
Can you buy an analog (albeit DCO) 8 voice polysynth new for £200?
