Sysex to ex-800

Hi,
Thank you for let me join the group! I purchased an (unmodded)ex-800 yesterday, and as I tried to update the factory presets via sysex, the synthe lost ALL Sounds... Only white noise on every preset.... Aaargh
So here is my first (dumb?) Question: what I am doin wrong?
I played the sysex file via sysex librarian ( mac) into the ex. The program overwrite option was enabled. Epic fail.

This setup always works with my Roland alpha juno 1. Any Idea?

Never tried loading banks by sysex to ex800, only tried playing wav audio in a-la commodore 64 game loading, had no issues.

Try reducing the rate at which you send Midi to the ex maybe? Others will probably have better advice..

I tried the Audio Transfer today and it worked. Before I tried that 1000 times, and it always failed. But today I took a different audio cable... OMG. The sysex thing would be interesting, too, but the manual isn't clear. It seems that anybody who tries that, have to send a special sysex load command from the computer.???

Anyway, the programming with audio works. Thank You again

This is probably no help but I have factory presets on wav and I managed to download them to my ex800 using the output of my ancient g4 ibook using audacity,turn the tape switch up to high (on back) on ex800 it should read fine using the jack leads.

There is no point trying to use sysex on ex800,it's very basic,you need the MK2, but now of course much more expensive then they used to be thanks to magazines like Future Music.....

The MK2 and EX-800 both have very similar sysex dump.

The sysex dumps of both contain all patches, chord progression and sequencer data.

Only the original Poly-800 has no sysex at all.

Actually yeah just read my manual quite close but EX-800 has no chord memory like Poly800II,

no parameters able to be modified in realtime.
