Revamping the poly 800

Revamping the poly 800

2003-05-13 by Evans Simard

I found in my closet a old bastar poly 800yesterday.

I change the battery and make some cool mods but now I
want to reload the preset sound or better.

anybody can help?

 what should I do?
what do I need?

 thank you all.

Type poly 800 factory patch in google, and there are sites that
have .wav files of the default patches. I never had any success back
in the day with using cassette back up, but it worked great from the
computer! I think I was just doing it wrong back then.

Last Saturday I used my Poly 800 in the studio after many years. I
wanted to use my Polymoog for the "vox humana" sound, but it's having
too many problems. So I used the Poly 800 as a substitute, and it
sounded awesome!! I used the "warm strings" patch (16, I think?) with
moog slayer filter, thru an MXR phaser and a Memory Man. It gave that
perfect Gary Numan "ooooooooooh" sound I wanted.

As far as the sequencer, I really like the sound of it synched to a
drum machine, but it's way too limited. Does anyone know a free MIDI
program I could use to do the same thing, but has more than 250 notes
and is editable?

Evans - how to reload the factory patches is the most often asked question
on this board. search the archive & you'll find this topic discussed &
explained
many times. all the files you need are in the "files" section in the main
page
of this group. good luck !!

Sorry Kenny, I haven't got to it yet. Keeping bugging me though.
That's the only way I'll remember :)

Re: Revamping the poly 800

No, sorry Kenny. The Polymoog is still sitting in the corner in its
roadcase waiting to get tinkered with. Unfortunately there are a few
more repairs that have to go before it, so I don't when I can sample
it.
