more arpeggiator:'traditional arp'...

i figure a 'traditional' arpeggiator plays up/down/up-down with 1/2/3/(4) octave range. (as opposed to imported folk melodies ;p ) the Akai ME20a isn't really an arpeggiator at all, and i don't remember it accepting incoming midi clock; it just did its own thing. nice tho'. the Oberheim Cyclone is pretty sophisticated (too much so for its own good), and can memorise rhythm and note intervals etc. but you spend most of your time with the manual next to you. exactly the opposite of what is needed. i think i ditched them both in favour of the atari-cubase IPS (interactive phrase synthesizer), where you import *.mid files, and have lots of modes. a bit glitchy via MROS, but ok for creating midi sequences. teh atari rocks... (and i have been finding various arps and sequencers for it) judging by eg: a novation arp, on a VA synth, the one on a Juno-60 seems really 'bangin'', eg: bang on time, tight, very dynamic feel to it; that is from memory, it was my first ex- perience of an arpeggiator, and i don't get the same feeling from newer ones(why?), including the ones with rhythm patterns.
