Question about the FM Mod

Question about the FM Mod

2012-12-31 by eric justin

I just finished up modding my Poly 800 MKI and noticed something about the FM mod. It seems that with some patches, the mod only effects certain keys while it effects all keys in other patches. Why is this happening?
Thanks

Eric

Just a WAG.. but have you checked the difference in the Keyboard Track parameter settings between the patches that work and ones that dont seem to work correctly?

My guess is the FM works best on patches with Keyboard Track set to "Full".

I think i figured it out. The mod seems to only effect certain notes if in single mode or in double mode with dco 2 turned down low. Weird!

This is the nature of FM. Some notes will produce odd dissonant frequencies and others will produce even harmonics.

If you install the HAWK and AtomaHawk mod kits then the FM mod works consistently for both single and double mode. If you do the standard FM mod then you need to use double mode most of the time. In single mode you get four out of eight notes sounding with the FM and the other four not. And due to the way the Poly assigns notes to TG's, you don't get any way of deciding which TG's will or won't be FM'd.

The HAWK/AtomaHawk fixes all that.

Mike
