Waveform Mod

Could maybe be interesting if you could get the little beast to produce some different waveforms before the rest of the synth section, if you get my drift? (help, I'm drifting!... sorry, lack of sleep and too much coffee...)

I've always thought that the Poly's oscillators had enough wave options as
they are, but if you insist...

Actually doing some waveshaping would be hairy, as there are only two outputs
from the osc chip, 4 voices on each, with 4 outputs from the dividers to make
all those selectable octaves. At least that's what I remember, it's been a
while since I've looked at the schematic. Waveshapers would get confused by
more than one note hitting them. Could be entertaining, though...

A much, much better idea... this is SICK... standard cmos gate chips come
with 4 gates to a package. 4 octaves out, two seperate osc's per voice in
dual mode with seperate outputs... Take a standard xor gate chip (74hc86)
and wire it in. 4 seperate ring modulators, each hitting at a different
octave!

I'm going to have to do this now. Oh, the horror....

For those who can't read German, running it through the Google translator gives an almost readable version:
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fhome.wtal.de%2Felasticimages%2Fmusik_basteln_01.htm&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&safe=off&prev=%2Flanguage_tools

Need access to an EPROM burner, though - anyone have one handy for some ROM production?

On another note (let's say D# - OK, bad pun), anyone tried messing with the waveform as it comes out of the DCOs, before it goes into the amps and filter etc? ie., doing some waveshaping, or running it through an FX circuit, or some such?
