VST sysex editor?

VST sysex editor?

2011-12-07 by k9k9dog

in case anyone is interested, here's a site full
of VST sysex editors for hardware:

http://code.google.com/p/ctrlr/

there's a development pack for new editors, and
a support forum - should anyone be brave enough
to do one for hawk800...

Its a great program... but that website is out of date... log into the forum here and participate.

http://ctrlr.org/

patches are extremely easy to build. contribute!

yup... thats the website. :/ and what is this "ugh" ! ... its a free open source editor!! The dude "Atom" is dedicated to making it happen so you don't have to spend $200 on synthquest that probably doesn't even support the Hawk-800 in the first place.

if you don't like it you can continue to program the korg the old fashion way. its the best programmer ever. talk about ugh. ;)

Cheers!

I hate having to trawl through forums. It's impossible to find anything and they're too slow.

yeah, i do mean to check it out, i'm finishing off
a synthedit VST synth project right now. Gordon is
right: that forum doesn't really help you find the
info quickly> i'll run the file and see what's there..
writing cubase mixermaps for atari was easy. this
prog' makes putting it into a plugin easier than via
the 3rd party SE module-and it is multi platform.
(haha, i'll get started on a GUI..)
btw: i looked at the midi data sheet and it doesn't look
like a standard sysex thing. does hawk800 use nrpns for
parameter address? i never quite mastered that...sounded
easy enough, but i was doing it wrong, i guess; gave up
in the end when midi ccs etc took over, lol.

i'm just saying if you cannot find the download button at the top of the page. you are unlikely to use this awesome free tool. I've made mappings for my mbase11 in 20 minutes. Its improved over the past year and I believe it supports cc's and sysex. There are plenty of improvements going into it....

Also there are some presets that are available once you get into the tool. Its open source and pretty much run by one dude. So yeah... can't beat free. Cheers!

Yes, the HAWK does NRPN CC's for all parameters. It also does two other methods of parameter control that can be more useful with some hardware controllers.

See the owners manual pages 34 and 35.

Re: VST sysex editor?

2011-12-09 by k9k9dog

yuh. well i installed the app and looked at the helpfile
and it's way over my synthedit head. so over to someone
more skilled..but i've made some decent numerical fader
png's if anyone wants them, and can knock up a working
mockup gui in the meantime.

last time i tried the nrpn thing was using an atari with
the list editor in cubase. i didn't work out how to send out
messages in the right order(wdf...param lsb, param msb, data
entry#6...didn't work...i made sysex mixer maps instead)
could you #please# explain the correct way to do it!!!!

it seems you're sending 2 messages at once. the idea of
sysex made more sense for general editing. is there a sysex
definition page for hawk800?

btw: a_tom appears to be a ex800 owner, according to a
gearlist posting. maybe he can just give a headstart with
a standard template for the basic unit...
