Even the voltage regulator transistor Q1 doesn't have a heat sink on it, and it looks like its collector is tied directly to the NEG rail on the DC jack..
5V on pin 6 is excellent! I cannot get my poly 800 to supply this without using the batteries...
But I would say that Q18 should NOT hot....
Its collector looks to be hooked up to some sort of transformer?
What voltage does your power supply deliver? Could it be like with 7805 regulators, when the bigger the difference between input voltage and output voltage, the hotter becomes the regulator.
