Filter slope

Filter slope

2010-09-17 by pnemusic

First, I want to say thanks for putting this group together as well as developing AtomaHawk! Which I WILL be getting asap! For now I am gonna do what I can with the standard parts I have here.

My question is concerning the 12/24db per octave slope switch. I want to know if there are actually multiple contact points for switching the slope with and without the moogslayer mod. I notice some folks have 2 switches one for with the other mod and one for without. Will the design depicted here

...work in either case or only one and if so which one?

Thanks for the help!

Joe

I am guessing that you're talking about the filter mod picture in the files section showing the spdt switch in the upper left.

If that is the case, then I would say that this is the standard hackers way in which the 12/24 db slope mod is done.

The moog slayer mod is more about variable control of the VCF cutoff and extreme resonance.

So I am not really sure what you mean by the comparison.

Mike

Humm. Works on my end. It is a jpeg from the group named 12-24 dB.jpg. I found it under Files/4) Modifications/24db filter Mod

Hi Joe,

Incidenteally, it was me who put that picture together (with info gathered from other posts). So I feel compelled to reply :)

The 12/24 dB filter slope mod is totally independent from the MoogSlayer and FM800 mods. The SPDT switch in the picture will only affect the filter slope.

Of course you can also add a similar switch to toggle between factory behaviour and MoogSlayer mode (I did this on my Poly.)

I have all these mods on my Poly and they do get along well.

And of course, if you want to take your Poly to the next level... go for the AtomaHawk kit.

Best,

David

Re: Filter slope

I guess we sent the last back and forth about the same time but yes, that is the one.

I have the moog slayer working but I seen some pictures that have the moog slayer mod and 3 switches. One switches between moog slayer and factory VCF. Two are 12/24 dB/Oct filter slope switches. One is for use when moog slayer is active and the other is used when moog slayer is off.

I do not want to do this. I would rather keep the Moog slayer on but I wanted reassurance that the switch described in this pic will work but it seems I will be A OK.

Thanks a ton.

I will definitely be getting the AtomaHawk and Hawk-800 kits as soon as I get caught up with current projects and free up some money... Certainly by the end of the year!!!!
