patch memory

2010-01-10 by k9k9dog

hello folks,
as i'm about to start building an analog synth, i'm also
wondering if it'll be feasible to have a preset system and
design it around that. it isnt something i know about, and
i'd like to read up on it.
could you point me some sites where i can get the relevant
information?
you can email me directly at domgoold@yahoo dot com
thanks for any help.

Preset systems usually rely on:

1) storage of parameters in digital form

2) an analog to digital converter to pull analog signals into digital form
3) a multiplexer (or two) to select analog signals that are to be sampled
4) a digital to analog converter and multiplexers to send the digital values back to the analog controls

All of this assumes that each analog control is voltage based.

Mike
