Quick question: DCO1 > DCO2 FM, DCO > VCA AM, DCO > Reso FM??

Quick question: DCO1 > DCO2 FM, DCO > VCA AM, DCO > Reso FM??

2008-09-06 by P........

HI there, new guy here - I saw something about the FM-800 mod where
the DCO-1 modulates the VCF and I am amazed how simple it is to
accomplish. Now I would like to do the same thing with the VCA for
amplitude modulation and DCO1>DCO2 FM w/adjustable feedback and maybe
even cross FM. Now here's the hitch: I have only accomplished the
first mentioned mod by following the instructions on this site:
http://www.synthmod.net/korg/fm800/ and though I know something about
electronics and soldering I just really, REALLY suck at reading
schematics, so if someone could point out for me where VCA, DCO1 and
DCO2 are and the right spots to get said mods accomplished that would
be awesome.

Greetings - Patrick

glad you like ;)

DCO->AM might work... i'll have to look into that.

DCO->FM(DCO) won't work. the DCOs are digital, so you can't just run a
wire between DCOs and get modulation. if you're new to this list, you may
not have heard about the new OS for the 800, and you might ask about doing
DCO cross modulation in software, but i'm pretty sure the CPU and/or
hardware won't work that way.

Hi,
hopefully, I will soon post my "semi-modular" like modifications,
where several modulations will be possible.
Until now from my Poly800 I´ve heard DCO->Chorus, Chorus LFO->VCF
Resonance, ChorusLFO speed changing is easy as well.
But poor old Poly800, with wires sticking out around. I had to
assembly it back together...
Now I uploaded block-diagram for Poly800 with possible inputs/outputs
at least - in the Files > Technical section

it is scan of my hand-drawed night mares...)

Hi Josef,

Did you ever try the Cross Modulation mod? If so, from where did you
take the signals for the datainput to the xor-gate? I have tried
hooking my xorgate to pin 14 and 15 on ic6, but i dont get any usable
output..
