This list is for discussion of topics of all kinds surrounding the Korg Poly 800. With that in mind, I have deleted a couple of posts in order to maintain the integrity of the discussion. Moderator Mike.

I think that the post of mine you deleted contained some valuable information about personal banking options. I just don't understand why so many group moderators and group members restrict conversation to the 'group topic'. More than half of the yahoogroups in existence are abandoned repositories for spam, so I personally think that any forum where there are real people wanting to talk to each other is good, and unless the conversations are particularly abusive I can't see how discussions of other topics could be a threat to the group. Obviously we all joined this group because we have an interest in Poly 800s, so that will always be the main topic of discussion here regardless of whether it's 'enforced'. It all just seems pointlessly oppressive. Are there so many yahoogroup obsessive compulsives who go into conniptions whenever their ducks aren't in a row or their topics are off, that the rest of us have to cater to their lack of slack?

More than half of the yahoogroups in existence Because it's not really terribly appropriate for discussion here. If you want to discuss banking, no-one's stopping you setting up a Yahoo! group to discuss that. If you don't want to have it on Yahoo! Groups then I'm sure you can set up a mailman list or something similar to handle it. If you want a hand setting up mailman then feel free to ask me, but not in here. > are abandoned repositories for spam, so I personally think that any > forum where there are real people wanting to talk to each other is > good, and unless the conversations are particularly abusive I can't > see how discussions of other topics could be a threat to the group. > Obviously we all joined this group because we have an interest in > Poly 800s, so that will always be the main topic of discussion here > regardless of whether it's 'enforced'. BTW: Gordon has a chip on his shoulder because I gave him a one-month suspension from the yahoogroup I moderate, 'CircuitBending', last week for his inappropriate abusive behavior towards one of the members (which just happened to be me!). He responded by immediately rejoining with a sockpuppet ID he created that day, who proceeded to praise 'Gordon' and announce that in his opinion, 'Gordon' has "pwned" me. What a class act, eh??

I told you a few home truths and you got all upset. Man up. > (which just happened to be me!). What a class act, eh?? Uhuh. Sock puppet, eh? You're libel/slandering me! I'm gunna take you to court and then you'll be sorry! BAWWW! You have no idea how ridiculous you sound. Now, take the OT chatter somewhere else. We don't care about how the bank is screwing you over. If you pay your bills on time and keep your bank account sufficiently full so that you don't go into overdraft, then teh eeeebil conspeeeracy won't be stealing your money to fund coke runs to Argentina, or whatever the projet du jour is. This is my final word on the subject. You should drop it, before you make yourself seem even more ridiculous. Gordon

I did not pose my question to him to start a debate, I posed it because I'd like to read HIS answer. I posted something he decided to delete, so the issue is between us. The only reason I did not ask in email is because I'd like his response to be a matter of public record. If the moderator decides to take a poll of everyone's opinion, he'll do so.

Actually I don't know if a discussion of group policy is considered off- topic. I guess that's up to Mike to decide, not me. But I will say that your logic is flawed. By the time Mike deleted the posts from the group archive, they had already been sent to every group member who has opted to receive group emails. Since I have emails turned off and only read yahoogroups from the yahoogroups web interface, the only posts I am aware of that Mike deleted was mine, and the one I was replying to. If any additional posts had been made in in that thread, I didn't see them because Mike had deleted them by the time I logged on to read the group again. So, ironically, the only people for whom Mike's action actually prevented them from seeing the off-topic posts, are people for whom off-topic posts wouldn't seem particuarly intrusive to in the first place, since they would be the ones with traffic sent by email turned off.

Rather than lay out the law of the land, which to so many people sounds like Fascism, let me explain by way of example. A few months ago, I made a comment about something AtomSmasher said and the conversation quickly devolved in to a slanging match between us. Within a couple of posts, many people on this list asked that we take our conversation elsewhere. Which we did. And then, AtomSmasher and I proceeded to argue vehemently for some time through private emails but then we quickly moved on. I like to think we moved on because, in the spirit of Korging, all things give way to the Poly 800. Since then, AtomSmasher and I have talked about the Korg on this list as though we were blood brothers. I like to think that is because, despite our ideological differences, we are still westerners (please, if you're not a westerner don't take offense) with far more in common with each other as compared to our differences. Perhaps it's just because we decided to keep our loud mouths shut. Perhaps it's for some other reason altogether. But the lesson learned was simple. If you go off topic, I as moderator will delete the posts. Mike the Moderator

We are not interested in other forums and yahoo groups, please can you keep your experiences of other groups to yourself as it is off topic. And, it doesn,t hurt to show just a little compassion towards those who are in the unfortunate situation to be in poverty, if you are going to mention them at all that is. Still, it allows us to show our true colours eh? Some people will try to shut out reality until it jumps out of the pan and bites...... This luxury will not last for much longer as the truth and corrruption emerges. Peace

Al, Quoting Nietzsche will get you nowhere. That would be because I fall into the latter camp of his two definitions for herd mentality. Which is to say, that I am a religious fanatic when it comes to the Korg Poly 800. And I think I can speak for many group members here that would call their own passion for all things Korg Poly 800 somewhat religious as well. There is another Nietzche definition of herd mentality and I suggest that you go and look that up. Regardless of the right or wrong of either type, this list is for religious fanatical followers of the cult of the Korg Poly 800 and we don't want to talk, breathe, think or argue about anything else but that. So please stop posting about anything else but the Korg Poly 800.
