HELP! power supply causing pcb short

HELP! power supply causing pcb short

2008-08-25 by Dennis

This poly 800 seems to function just fine on batteries but when a 9
vdc converter is plugged in it goes dead. I figured it was the jack
and replaced it after desoldering the original and replacing it with a
clone. Same problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

check the polarity of the power plug, it must be tip positive

if its tip negative, it will disconnect power from the battery and apply inverted voltage to the input, theres a zener in there to offer some protection so you
dont fry everything, but its not a good thing to keep juiced up with incorrect polarity

best regards,

Have you built your HAWK-800 yet?

Hey Marcus,

Have you built your two HAWK-800 kits yet?

You were one of the first to jump in but you've not made a single note
to let me know if you've built them.

Mike.

the correct voltage?

DC?

beyond that, you'll need some time on the bench with multi-meter.

G'day Mke,

my kits are still sat on the workbench at home, waiting for me to have some playtime!!

following the wedding and back to work, I have had some major staff issues to deal with that have meant my playtime is due sometime later :-/

the most important thing for me was to put some money towards your project as soon as possible, so once it was available, I bought the two kits,

I am wanting to get a third for my other poly, I dont know if im dreaming but maybe it could be the first triple cascade polyset out there

keep up the great work!!

Marcus
