Loading Patch Data

Loading Patch Data

2008-02-07 by andyok27

I have a Moog Slayer'd + FM'ed Poly-800 Mk. I. I haven't tried the battery modification. I have
successfully loaded patch data into it previously, but there has always been a problem with
the programs above number 30 or so. After number 35, all the programs are random hissy
noises, almost no tones. Also, recently, I've attempted to load patch data into it and nothing
occurs. I set the tape switch on and press load, play the .wav file from my computer's
headphone jack into the 'to' tape 1/8 inch port on the synthesizer. When the .wav is finished
playing, it doesn't say error or good, it just remains 'load' or 'verify'. There are lots of cool
sounds I would love to tweak if I could load them into the machine. Also, the memory
seemed to be wiped, so many of the sounds I had programed were lost. I'd love any
suggestions on how to fix this problem

Thanks!

Andy,

Have you tried using the factory patch file we have in our files
section? I recorded it myself with special care taken to get the
levels correct and minimum distortion.

Yes I tried using the Poly-800 factory sounds 8bit 8kHz.wav as well as several others under the 'Files' section. While uploading, my LED display does not flicker and no message is ever given after the file is done playing. I would guess that maybe the synth is not recieving the signal at all, but I don't know how I could fix that.

Andy,

did you try the file "Audio Cassette of Original Patches.wav"?

That is the one I recorded and that I know is very reliable.

Re: Loading Patch Data

I just verified that one... it works perfectly on mine. A couple of
the other ones don't though. I assume you have the manual and have
read pages 38-39. If not, the manual is in the files section.

Good luck!

Re: [korgpolyex] Re: Loading Patch Data

there are a number of ways that you can proceed
there are two tape level switches, lo and hi

if you are seeing no flickering at all, try setting the tape switch on the back of the korg to hi, and set the output volume from your pc or playback device to maximum

if you are not ever seeing err or good, it means that your signal is most likely not loud enough.

keep trying until you get an err
onve you see that, reduce the PC volume some and retry

just keep trying and you will eventually get to a volume where you see good!

i used my mac, and itunes.

with itunes volume at around 80% and the mac master volume on full, and the tape switch on hi i finally got it to read

best of luck

I tried all of those things today, and still nothing. Is there any known existing problem in
which the tape in jack breaks or becomes corrupted?

Sounds to me like the socket or a fault there somewhere.
Have you tried saving from the poly?
