Two and a half new controllers

Two and a half new controllers

2007-07-06 by korgpolyex800

Hi all,

Well, today I created to new MIDI controllers for the EX800.

Now you can control VCF cutoff and VCF resonance via MIDI controllers
3 and 4.

So that's another two new REAL features deployed in the new software.

I've also implemented a modulation frequency controller on 5 but I
didn't quite get it working right so I can't claim total success on
that one - yet.

But two and half controllers in one day is good enough for me.

Would anyone like to see a youtube video demonstrating the new features?

Have a great weekend all.

Mike.

When it comes to the controller numbers, why not using midi standards

#74 for cutoff and #71 for resonance

like most of the major companies (Yamaha, Roland, Korg) do and most
of the controller keyboards having a predefined setting for...

...Summa

Three controllers done

2007-07-07 by korgpolyex800

Thanks for that Summa,

I will make sure I follow the GM2 MIDI spec from this point forward.
Just think of it, the EX800 will actually be GM2 compatible!

Also, I just fixed the modulation generator which had gone awry after
I made the switch to the new EEPROM code. When you set the frequency
of the MG, the CPU does a lookup into a table of values that are used
to determine the actual cycle rate. Only problem is, the lookup code
could not work across a boundary larger than 256 (8 bits) and when I
relocated the code, what do you think happened but that the table
ended up straddled across an 8 bit boundary (by amazing chance - I
should buy a lottery ticket). This caused the MG to go up and down in
cycles instead of smoothly speeding up as the MG value went up. I
relocated the table back inside an 8 bit boundary and the MG is fixed.

So now I retested my MG controller and it works great.

So we now have three fully functioning controllers that the original
EX800 never had.

Mike.
