New breakthrough on hardware upgrade

New breakthrough on hardware upgrade

2007-01-29 by korgpolyex800

I finished the prototype hardware upgrade and got it working today.

I now have an EX800 with 8K of ROM (which will be used as a boot ROM)
along with 16K of RAM (up from the original 2K) along with another 16K
of EEPROM (which will be loaded with software via sysex as we develop
new features).

Here's a link to a little picture (sorry about the blur) of the
prototype in position.

The mod required removing one chip and replacing it with a 16 pin
socket and one wire patch (for the memory write signal).

Check out then picture of the board in place on the EX800 at my
progress blog.

Now all I have to do is fill all of that new memory space with new
features!
