mt head hurts!

mt head hurts!

2006-03-22 by mahceenaleen

Coz yeah, i again forgot to mod my ex800 and i felt today like
buying parts online... BUT i forgot an other detail.... whats wrong
with french people? They always have to translate things and weee, i
don't know what to buy!

No shit, to do the moog filter mod, i have to buy two audio taper
pots! And believe me or not, i haven't found any french website
about electronics mentionnong 'audio pots"... it always
says "linear"... or "log"... or whatever... but NEVER "audio pots"..

What ive been able to found out on some other websites (in english),
is that audio taper pots can be found in the 6mm axe pots section,
weee and then i still don't find anything mentionned as audio taper
or audio pot on french websites.

So i guess i'll try to the local downtown store this afternoon, but
the guy is everything but helpful..

So maybe im wrong somewhere, i'm everything but a tech-head, so if
anyone has some explanation about that weird "missing" pots in
france, im free to listen at anyone!

help the poor frenchy plz :D

Thx a lot in advance!

guillaume kaneel richard.

Audio taper means log. (Because our hearing is logarithmic.)

Good luck!

================

the web site <http://synthmod.net/korg/moog_slayer/> is now updated:
Use 50K-Ohm "audio taper" pots. These may also be called
"logarithmic taper" or just "log taper".

Hey guys, newt "noob" question!
I started working on the mod and I finally want to add a switch like this:
http://launch.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/korgpolyex/photos/view/52a3?b=9

When it says that the resistors have to be like the factory ones, does it
mean that if i read "100k" on one and "10k" on the other one (just on the
side of both), i'll have to replace them by a 100k resistor and a 10k one?
Coz a friend told me it would actually mean i have to take a ohmmeter and
see what values come... just tell me if i'm wrong or if he's wrong, would
help a lot :D

PLUS, on your page atom, i read:
Don't forget the heat-shrink!! Or sparks will fly!!

Do you mean this paper-like plate i had to remove to access this part of the
circuitry?

In hope my english will fit, thx a lot in advance!

this picture shows the resistor near the power input jack. use heat shrink
(aka: spaghetti wrap, shrinking spaghetti) to make a "shell" around the
resistor and the exposed solder joint on top of it (at the red wire, in
this picture). this prevents the solder joint from wiggling around and
shorting out against anything.
