patch editor ex800 ?

patch editor ex800 ?

2005-09-29 by Naughty Nobby

Hi,

I'm trying to find a software patch editor for the ex800.
(some UI interface where i can set the params and then download it over
midi)
Is there some windows based program available ?
I know the motu unisyn program can, but this one is too expensive....

Regards,

Hans

Hello Hans,

I have also wondered the same question? But can the EX-800 accept System exclusive
information? I have heard that it cannot!! This is a shame, the button interface is
annoying!

Please let me know if you hear of any solution to programming the ex-800 from an
external source.

Best regards

Tom

Tom,

Yes, the EX800 accepts system exclusive info.
When i bought my ex800, some sounds were erased somehow.
But with a simple sysex/midi program, i was able to download the default
sounds again.
Works fine.

And the program: unisyn (motu systems) allows you to modify the synth
parameters graphically
and then generates or downloads the sysex file.
This program is too pricy for me. (about 223 euro's)

Regards,

Hans

Hi Hans,

Wow thanks for that info!!! There is hope after all for easy programming :), I agree that the
unisyn program is too expensive. It is possible that someone has programmed an ex-800
editor though. I know when I was looking to edit my alpha Juno2 a noble man had
contructed an excellent real time editor for OSX.

I'll search the web and post my findings.

Best regards,

Tom

Tom,

I'm thinking of writing my own editor with Delphi.
Already downloaded a midi plugin.

But this might take some time since i have many 'projects' which i want to
work on...

I'll let you know if i have something working....

RE: [korgpolyex] Re: patch editor ex800 ?

2005-10-24 by x x

Im stuck with poly 800s Im forced to tweak by hand and this has brought me closer to the sounds and modification in time faster then the computer. For recodings sake a version two poly would be nice for realtime faster control .Seems like there is a editor just for the poly 800 ver 2 also ex800 which has midi implimentation to save and tweakPoly 800 ver 2 and ex 800 same beast.\. I know there was one written back in the day.Look on ebay and see I remember there was a guy selling with the editer program cd on it and also sounds a few banks...........He had it all on cd. Look for the sounds when you search not just the synth on ebay if I find his cd ill post the link. I think I might wrote him and saved email adress it was a year and half ago. Ill hit ebay l8r and dig he sold sounds for a few old korgs and other midi controlled synths for computer editing and the software to. ....Damn if I find software ill neeed a vers 2 poly allthough you can mod a ver1 to a two but its pretty ridiculous and put a toggle switch in on it back and forth to ver1 on and 2.I need a to get and rackmount a ex800 would be the thing to have to add to collections. Moog slayer I must say was great improvement to the fun.

Hello Hans,, and all the wonderful poly geeks in this group.

I have scoured the internet to the best of my humble ability and can find no viable
accessible editor except for unisyn and the one alien mentioned on ebay. It seems that
someone some time ago had written a free one but it is no longer accessible to the
general public.

I think if you are to program an editor, you would go down in poy/ex history as a noble
man of saintly status.

P.s what is Delphie? and can it work on a mac? :)

I'm not a programmer, but this thing looks promising:

http://www.jsynthlib.org/

it's open source and written in java. Who want to take a crack at adapting it to our beloved
poly800?? ;-)

Has anyone taken a look at this program (http://www.jsynthlib.org/)?

,, It looks like the answer for us poly users that crave external control of our patches. I
tried to figure out the Java but it's too crazy for me.

Are there any Java Masters out there that can build a poly2 or ex 800 profile for the
jsynthlib ?

If you could you would be an inspiration to the whole team :) !!!!!!!

Best regards,

Tom

who are imperial tee?
now (forgive me), oi reckons...that a workaround would be a
VSTi that can spit out sysex patches for the Korg.
any takers?(said this before, but was ignored...)

Yes Music tec,, that sounds like a useful alternitive. How does one go about constructing a
VSTi? There must be some Java or VSTi computer geeks in this Group??? Common you guys
:) you know we are all geeks so it's ok to admit it!!

"who are imperial tee?"

I'm just a guy who loves his ex-800 (moog slayerd) and craves a littel more hands on
control.

Peace out

Re: patch editor ex800 ? Calling any Java Masters!!!

I didnt think the midi implementation on the Poly800 included changing
individual patches, Don't you have to upload/download the entire bank
at once?

You might be right. I can't seem to find any midi implementation charts anywhere?

But if you can in fact download the patch all at once , doesn't that mean that there are midi
sysex messages going to each parameter?

Maybe there could be an editor that transmits everything at once (all parameters) in
specific increments? or does this sound too silly?

Re: patch editor ex800 ? Calling any Java Masters!!!

Hi There!

a EX800 editor running on XP would be exactly what I m looking for.

Is any program available or how is the ETA / Progress?
Is there a Download?

Unfortunately programing is not mine so I cant give a helping hand
but I m looking foward to beta-test the results.

"There must be some Java or VSTi computer geeks in this

Well I can make VSTi but I dont see how this would matter in this
subject.
