Korg Poly800/EX800 Users

I was wondering, does the DEG affect both the resonance and the cutoff
or just the cutoff?

Just cutoff, even so modulating the resonance is sometimes usefull it's pretty
uncommon that the filter envelope modulates the resonance. Synths that can do
that are mostly using a mod-matrix to route envelope, LFO ... to resonance...

Wrong!

What is cutoff?
It's the highest frequency the filter doesn't cut (speaking of high
pass filter, of course!).

What is resonance?
It's the boost of the cutoff frequency.
The parameter "resonance" regulates the amount of the boost of the
cutoff frequency.

So, when you modulate the filter with deg you move the cutoff
frequency and so you DO modulate the resonance too, but you DON'T
modulate the amount of this resonance.

Very very few old synths are able to modulate the amount of resonance
(with eg, lfo, aftertouch or other...) but today it's very common
with new synths like Supernova, Fantom, Voyager, ...

Well, but the Poly 800 using a Low Pass, so what... come on, we don't write
scientific paper, we're trying to help newbies with their first steps. Being
selcentered and explaining things one don't need know to solve a problem is in
most cases less helpfull since it very possible irritates the asking person...

...and the region around that frequency depending on the filtercurve...

No you don't, since resonance is a parameter, what it creates is a formant. Since
this is the right name for those peaks, so when you move the filter frequency on
high resonance you're moving a formant and not the resonance...
