Please help me with me Poly 800!!!!!

Please help me with me Poly 800!!!!!

2005-08-19 by califunkstyle

Hello-
I just bought a Poly 800 in "as is" condition knowing that it did not
power up. Can anyone tell me what I should try to do first to get it
to work or if the fix is an easy one? Should I open it and replace
some type of battery? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

No. There is a memory backup battery but that will not affect powerup.
If you're not experienced with reading schematics and troubleshooting
circuits then nothing will be an "easy fix."

Russ-
Thanks for the reply....I don't have either of the
things you mentioned....where can I get them, how much
will they cost, and most importantly, how do I use
them to fix the Korg?
Thanks
Chad

you can get a cheap continuuity tester at almost any
hardware or auto store. it is a little pen with a
lightbulb and a metal pin coming out of it, there is
also a little lead which can clip to another part of
the circuit.
The multimeter or volt/ohm-meter is used to measure
resistances and voltages. The reading are compared to
what should be going on in order to determine the
cause of the fault.

gear repair 101, check to make sure the power and
output connections are all kosher.
Then troubleshoot the power supply.
