midi output velocity?!, help!

midi output velocity?!, help!

2005-07-20 by Alex

Hullo, I recently purchased a poly 800 and love it to bits, but I
can't figure out how to get it to send it's midi output at a
reasonable velocity. It's always around 60 instead of 100 or so, thus
making my soft synths sound shallow. Is it just me? is this actually
really easy to get around?
I will send my top two ultra-rare SID music chip tunes to anyone who
can help!

Cheers ta

This is normal, especially for a synth from the dark ages of midi. The Keyboard
of the P800 isn't velocity sensitive and sends a fixed non userchangable
velocity. If your other instruments allow, you might be able to change their
response settings...

Thanks, will try that, how about midi inputs on cubase sx? Do they
have an input gain of any kind? Would something like that work?
cheers

u should be able to tell the program to ignore velocity (i kno this because my midi controller had issues like that too and i went in Fruity loops to tools and clicked "ignore velocites" under midi). would love to hear the SID samples.
