RES: [korgpolyex] Re: hi im new here

2005-04-05 by THIAGO Montenegro

Hey, thanks for all the explanation... It was really helpful... I'm in
digikeys.com and the knobs I bought seems really cheap so I'm thinking
about buy a new ones there. Anyone could point one? An another doubt I
have (reading the past e-mails) is:

I could limit the resonance putting it down to 10 in the digital
display... fine.

So that means this is a relative value in which the resonance will still
be affected... Is this the same with cutoff? Do I have to to change it
in the LCD to achieve all its range?

If so, you can maintain the patches "heterogenity" with different
cutoff and resonances settings in each one, independentely of the knobs
position, right? Is the display range bigger or the same of the knob
range? How much the mod increases this range?

Hope you understand what I mean...:D

Thanks
ThiagoM

that's not normal.

I know what you are talking about here. If you want the 50k ohm pots from digikey they are part numbers:

574SS503-ND (potentiometer) $2.52US each
226-1033-ND (alum knob black) $4.73US each
BH32T-C-ND (battery holder mod) .97US each
P189-ND (Panasonic battery for Poly800) .34US each

Hope that helps.

As far as setting the internal values of the poly 800 for cutoff and resonance: Yes, the internal values do affect the knobs. For example, on resonance you shouldn't go any higher than 12 or you will get the sqwealing. the cutoff does not matter so much, but you can tell a difference when you raise it up to say 50-99. For many patches that have values of 0 set for cutoff and resonance the knobs will appear to do nothing. You need to adjust the values for cuttof (41) and resonance (42) to make the knobs do something. Hope this helps. If anyone has info to the contrary, please let me know.

Thanks,

lanrosta

=================

from <http://synthmod.net/korg/moog_slayer/notes/>:

After doing this mod, the the digital setting for resonance (0-15) now
sets the upper limit that the resonance knob is capable of. So, if it's
set to 10, you should be safe from blowing anything up. If it's turned up
to 15, then the resonance knob is capable of doing damage. The lower range
of the resonance knob is not affected by the range that's set digitally.

The digital setting for the cutoff (0-99) adjusts the overall range of the
knob. A higher or lower setting digitally will raise or lower both the top
and bottom of the range that the knob is capable of.

Despite the insane range that this allows, the LFO and EG3 are still
capable of pushing it even further.
