On my MK-I, it simply fits into slots. No screwing involved.
I am missing one peg - I've been thinking about carving one out of a hardwood.
Not everyone is handy with a pocketknife, though...

One possiblility is to take a normal guitar peg with the screw a that's long
enough to reach inside a case, and then find a matching nuts at a hardwood
store to wedge the screw tightly in the slot. Some epoxy might help as well.
