This sounds similar to a problem I had with my Poly-800. If I unplugged it from all power sources for more than a few minutes, some (but not all) of the patches would get scrambled.
I was told that it was one of the memory chips. (It's the first chip in the series on the motherboard; I don't remember the number, sorry.) The guy replaced that, and since then, no other patches have been scrambled.
Unfortunately, I also can't seem to load anything from my tape, which worked properly before I had this $5 chip replaced. He didn't use the same, exact chip that was there, since they're not available any longer, he said. I'm thinking this could be my problem, but I hope you can get the chip you need!
