I had an EX-8000 for a long time but wasn’t impressed and didn’t use it
much compared to my other synths. Then I plugged in a different keyboard one day
and was amazed at what I had been missing. It seems I had only used my Juno-106
to play it, which didn’t have velocity. With a decent controller with velocity,
it was a whole new instrument and very expressive. That’s my one good-news bit
about having bad 80017 chips on the Juno. It forced me to find out what the
EX-8000 could really do.
