Yes there are wires connecting the top and bottom, lots of them, but they
should all be long enough to lift the top up and back. Remove all screws and
machine screws from the bottom (no particular order), turn it right side up and
lift the top. The top is heavy since all the keys go with it. In the bottom is
just the main board and the C-cell compartment. Soldering wires to a lithium
cell is not recommended because they can explode if overheated, although I’m
sure there are plenty of people who have done it without maiming themselves. Can
you tell us the serial number on the bottom? I’m trying to make a list of what
version of main board is in which serial number range.

Thank you!
That's exactly the type of help I was hoping for, I really appreciate it,
looks like there's some good people around hear after all :)
I've been thinking, why not just solder my own solder points to the
battery? This might be horrendously stupid, but I don't know any better.
At any rate, my polly is doing the "Nothing but weird noises" thing again,
after I re-loaded the factory content last time, so the problem isn't going
away.....It's time, thanks for the useful info, wish me luck I'm going
in.....
