When you say you rebuilt the joystick. What did you use for the joystick pot assembly?
I have developed a new PCB that puts a PS2 joystick where the Poly one used to be. I haven't ordered any boards yet to see how well it works. Mostly, because I've been trying to find a slightly better quality joystick movement. The attraction to the PS2 type is that they're so darn cheap.

By the way - I've made a 3D joystick knob replacement model for my Poly800 and have installed it. It needed a bit of tweaking but overall it looks pretty good.
