I didn't say it would fix it Daniel,

but if you need it ASAP, as in, you are a

PRO keyboard player like me and need it onstage tonight,

working the potentiometer dry most definitely gets it

working for a limited time, and won't hurt it a bit,

That is true of any old stlyle pot like we have in our 800.

Its an old remedy from the days of CRT tele's and radios.

Unless the pot is DAMAGED, like champagne spilled

into it or something. My Father taught me this one 4 or 5 years ago.

But HIGH QUALITY tuner cleaner will fix it nicely & fast!

As I have already said.

Yup, turning the knob with no cleaner in it can’t do anything but grind the dirt in deeper and possibly damage the pot. Deoxit is definitely the gold standard for low residue cleaners. Last time I looked, Radio Shack actually had a couple of Caig products, but they were tiny cans and were a lot more money than you would pay online. Unless you are in a big hurry and have a Radio Shack around the corner, shop around.

I will try turning the knob back and forth a lot. Hopefully that will fix it.

Dont get the cheap Radio Shack versions, or any of those

Then just spray it in the little holes on the volume pot, turn it from

OFF to FULL volume about a hundred times fairly quickly.

If you cant get the tuner cleaner, you can sometimes

get it to work for very short periods of time by just the hundred or so quick turns.

If you cant get inside, you can spray a little right on the metal post

under the plastic volume knob , and it will seep down into the pot.

takes awhile of doing it a few times to get enough to seep in.

OR, your pot is bad, and its a goner! LOL!!!

90% of the time it a little bit of dirt... typical "mature" keyboard stuff.

Hello everyone,

my Poly-800 has been acting up recently.

As I turn the volume knob, I hear a little bit of static (almost like a ground hum). It shifts from the left to right signal and disappears when it's on full volume. Of course this is a problem when recording because when I have a clear signal it's likely that the volume will be too loud resulting in distortion. Does anyone have an idea for a quick fix on this? What could it be?
