That's a really good point. I have an original (G1) Nord Modular, and one of the coolest features is a bank of 128 x128 'random' patterns. In fact, they're not random at all, but there are a lot of them. The cool thing is you can assign a MIDI controller to pick patterns from a bank, and control any parameter you like from the resulting output.
