Thanks for the help, i am using a SEGA power supply that I picked because it 
seemed quite hefty (1.2 Amps) and had been sugested in another thread >>

Stock it is tip-neg ( +C- ) the cap "C" being the barrel in the diagram on 
the PS.

that there is some connection between problems with the 9volt input and the 
headphone jack not working.
